Nadia Toraman and the Maui Yoga Shala & Dance Paia team presented an all day free event to celebrate the summer solstice. Teacher trainees and community members pitched in for a Paia town clean-up early in the morning. The day then proceeded with a variety of yoga and dance classes open to all along with live music, face painting, and delicious Indian food from chant, dance, & mediation teacher Manju. One of the dance classes took it outside where Emilia DeCastro led a full parking lot of friends in a phenomenal Afro Caribbean dance. As the sun went down the Shala’s amazing dance teachers and their students took to the stage for an all out dance extravanganza featuring choreographed moves and lots of fun.
